Study Visa requirements set by DHA
To apply for a Study Visa (subclass 500) in Australia as an international student, you will need to fulfill certain requirements. The application fee is AUD 710. Here are the key requirements
1. Offer of Enrollment- You must have a Confirmation of Enrollment (COE) from a registered Australian educational institution for a full-time course.
2. Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) Requirement- You must demonstrate that you intend to stay in Australia temporarily for study purposes and have genuine intentions to return to your home country after completing your studies.
3. English Proficiency – Depending on the course and institution, you might need to show your English language proficiency through tests like IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE.
4. Financial Capacity- You must provide evidence of sufficient funds to cover your tuition fees, living costs (AUD 21,041 per year) and AUD 2,000 for return travel and unexpected expenses.
5. Health & Character Requirements- You must meet certain health & character requirements. This may include undergoing a medical examination and obtaining a PCC, police clearance certificates.
6. Employment History- Evidence of your employment history can include pay-slips or a contract if you are currently or recently employed. You can also attach your most recent curriculum vitae or résumé outlining both employment and study for the past five years.
7. Genuine Study Purpose- You should genuinely intend to study in Australia and have the academic background to pursue the chosen course.
8. Dependents- If you plan to bring family members as dependents, you must show evidence of their relationship and financial support.
9. Tuition Fees and Course Duration- You must provide proof of payment of the first tuition fee installment and the overall course duration.
10. Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)- You must purchase OSHC (AUD 450 to AUD 700 per year) to cover your medical and healthcare expenses while in Australia.
